In May 2025 Boston will host its first public art triennial, a city‑wide exhibition that promises to reshape how locals and visitors experience contemporary art. The Boston Public Art Triennial is a new organization that supports artists and communities in creating bold public art projects. Through programs like Lot Lab and the Public Art Accelerator, the group mentors artists and collaborates with neighborhoods, culminating in a triennial exhibition. The inaugural edition, running May 22 – Oct. 31 2025, carries the theme “The Exchange”.
According to the organizers, the exhibition will feature cross‑disciplinary projects that break down social and professional barriers, emphasizing collaboration and community.
By activating outdoor spaces across the city, the triennial aims to make contemporary art accessible and foster dialogue about how public art can build more equitable cities.
